| | | The picture below shows a larger view of this 1931 Checkers Pop Corn Confection Advertising Lithographed Tin Spinner Top Toy Prize. Checkers was a popcorn and peanut confection similar to Cracker Jack with a toy prize. The product was a competitor owned by The Shotwell Manufacturing Company and purchased by The Cracker Jack Company in 1926. The Cracker Jack ID number for this prize is: Z-0112, and it was made by the Gray Stamp & Manufacturing Company of Plano, Illinois. The top pictures a 5 cent box of Checkers, and there is a checkerboard pattern all around the edge. The original wooden post or peg is in the center. There is a poem imprinted on it that reads: HAPPY LITTLE SPINNING TOP. ROUND THE TABLE CREEPING. SPIN AWAY UNTIL YOU DROP THEN I’LL KNOW YOU’RE SLEEPING. The spinner top measures about 1-1/2'' wide. It appears to be in excellent condition as pictured. |
