On the edge the coin is numbered ''158'' and the edge is also marked ''STER'' for sterling silver. On one side the medal has a deer in a field, two branches, and nine stars. The other side has a hand holding a rifle and the Boston, Massachusetts Bunker Hill Monument. It is marked on the two sides as follows: DEERFIELD NEW HAMPSHIRE 1766 - 1966 MAJOR JOHN SIMPSON 1749 - 1825 HE FIRED THE FIRST SHOT FOR LIBERTY BUNKER HILL DEERFIELD The commemorative medal measures 1-3/8'' wide and it weighs .78 ounce.
