The pictures show a view of all (3) Unused 1928 Toy Advertising Ad Mat Molds in this lot. These ad mats are all dated December 1928. These are molds in which lead is poured to create a thin metal negative image that is then mounted on a wooden block for printing. Advertising is no longer being made or printed like this. The ad mats are like a 3-D posters and would look nice framed, or you could still use them to make print blocks. The print block would have been used to print advertisements in newspapers, in magazines, or store flyers. These are made of a thick compressed paper board.

The first admat is the largest. It measures about 15-1/8'' x 19-1/8''. In the circle at the top is a wreath, there is a child under a Christmas tree amongst may toys including: (2) different dolls, a paint set, a sailboat, a chest full of blocks, a ball, a train, a spinning top, a doll house, a monkey, a roly poly clown, a puppy dog, and a drum with drumsticks. Also on the admat, are other gifts below and in separate boxes all around. They and the admat are marked as follows:

CHRISTMAS GIFTS FOR EVERYONE!
TOYS
COATS
DRESSES
LINGERIE
NEGLIGEES
SWEATERS
GLOVES
BAGS
JEWELRY
HANDKERCHIEFS
NECKWEAR
SCARFS
PERFUMES

The second admat is a frame for advertising with many toys. Advertising would be created for the center. It pictures: a clown, a rocking horse a spinning top, an elf, a horn, an airplane, a ball, a drum, a dollhouse, a rabbit character, a duck pull toy, a toy soldier, a toy train with a tunnel and train station, a doll, letter blocks, an elephant pull toy, and another different doll. It measures about 8-1/4'' x 12-5/8''.

The third and final admat in this lot measures about 15-1/2'' x 2-1/2''. It appears to be a banner for the top of an advertising page. It reads: ''OUR TOYLAND IS JOYLAND''. It pictures a child with blocks, a giraffe, a ball, a doll, a toy train, a duck pull toy, a race car, another ball, another doll, a star, and a Jack in a box.

These appear to be in excellent unused condition as pictured. The ad mats can still be used to make print blocks. The old age discoloration will not effect the mold at all. The large one has pencil marks that can be erased.
