The picture shows a view of this Old Salesman Sample Would Be Politician Comic Valentine. The valentine is not dated but believed to be from the 1930s or 1940s. This valentine came from a salesman's sample booklet with the full (24) from this set. The booklet was taken apart to be sold separately. The cover of the booklet is shown but is NOT included with the valentine. Because of the images and wording these are also known as ''Rude Valentines''. There are many other different sets of these that were made and some were used as premiums from Cracker Jack, Checkers Popcorn Confection and others. Some types were sold in old five and dime stores. It is unknown how this one was available. The set that this Valentine came from consisted of the following list of titles: Rug Cutters Crystal Gazing Gertie Sugar Daddy Beauty At Rest Would Be Politician 5 And Dime Indian Favorite Aunt Clock Watcher Lodge Brothers Friendly Neighbors Braggin' Sam Club Leader Golfer Super Salesman Henpecked Husband Loving Couple Noisy Neighbor Tennis Champ Horseback Rider Ping Pong Polly Card Player Jack Of All Trades Special Sale Sadie Husband's Delight This Valentine pictures a man in a suit smoking a cigar. His vest pockets are filled with cigars to hand out. There is a political poster with the man behind him.
