The pictures show views of this Old Coney Island New York Boardwalk Advertising Souvenir Wooden Box. The inside is black. The maker and the year that this box was made are unknown, but it is believed to be from the 1930s. The box is wooden with a black lacquer coating and a gold imprint. It has images of the boardwalk with buildings, the Half Moon Hotel, and flowers framing the center image. Like a post card it is marked as follows:

BOARDWALK AT HALF MOON HOTEL
CONEY ISLAND, N.Y.

The closed box measures 4'' x 3-1/4'' x 1-3/8''. It appears to be in fair to good condition with some chipped lacquer as pictured. Below here, for reference, is some additional information found about the Half Moon Hotel:

Half Moon Hotel
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Half Moon Hotel in Coney Island, New York was a 225 foot tall, 14 story hotel that opened in 1927 on the Boardwalk at West 29th Street. The hotel was designed by the architectural firm of George B. Post and Sons. It is best known as the location where Abe Reles, informant for the FBI who brought down numerous members of Murder, Inc., ''fell'' to his death on November 12, 1941 a few hours before he was scheduled to testify against Albert Anastasia.

The name ''Half Moon'' refers to the name of explorer Henry Hudson's ship, which anchored off Gravesend Bay in Brooklyn (the location of Coney Island), while searching for a short cut to Asia.

In the late 1940s The Half Moon Hotel became a maternity hospital called Harbor Hospital. In the 1970s it became a senior citizen's home. It was demolished in 1995.
