Old City Building Photograph With Patriotic Banners & Flags

The picture shows a view of this Old City Building Photograph With Patriotic Banners & Flags. This photograph is not dated but it is an old original photo. At the time of this writing, the location of this building is unknown, but the back of the photo is stamped ''FLANDERS STUDIO, DOVER, N.H.''. The building may have been or maybe still is, in or near Dover, New Hampshire.

There are many different flags and banners of all sizes all over this building including a few Japanese flags on the corner. There are some (48) star American flags, so the date would be somewhere between 1912 and 1959. We would guess that this building was decorated and that the photo was probably taken for the World War I homecoming. This is only a good guess, we are not certain.

There are some people in the photo including what appears to be a police officer on the street corner. It has an exterior view of many different stores or businesses on the ground floor of the building. Some store window displays can be seen. Some windows have old awnings. It is difficult to tell by the picture below, but many of the old signs can be easily read from the photo. They include the following:

UNITED CIGAR STORES CO.
UNITED CIGARS
UNITED CIGARS
UNITED CIGAR STORES
WE SELL ALL POPULAR PLUG TOBACCOS IN PRIME CONDITION

The photograph measures 6-7/8'' x 4-15/16''. It is in excellent condition with a few tiny spots and a small lower left corner crease as pictured.
