The picture shows a view of this Unused 1941 Birth of The Blues Movie Ad Mat Mold. The ad mat is not dated but it is from 1941 when this movie was made. This is a mold in which lead is poured to create a thin metal negative image that is then mounted on a wooden block for printing. Advertising is no longer being made or printed like this. The ad mat is like a miniature 3-D poster and would look nice framed, or you could still use it and make print blocks from it. The print block would have been used to print on movie pages in newspapers, in magazines, or in the movie theater programs. It is made of a thick compressed paper board. This admat has an image of some of the actors and actresses in the movie. It is marked as follows:

THE ALL - STAR, ALL - LAUGH, ALL - ROUND, MUSICAL SENSATION!
''BIRTH OF THE BLUES''
15 SMASH SONG HITS, INCLUDING:
''ST. LOUIS BLUES''
''TIGER RAG''
''BIRTH OF THE BLUES''
''WAIT TILL THE SUN SHINES, NELLIE''
''MEMPHIS BLUES''
''MY MELANCHOLY BABY''
''THE WAITER AND THE PORTER AND THE UPSTAIRS MAID''
A PARAMOUNT PICTURE WITH
BING CROSBY - MARY MARTIN - BRIAN DONLEVY
CAROLYN LEE - ROCHESTER - J. CARROL NAISH
DIRECTED BY VICTOR SCHERTZINGER
1AC ©

The ad mat measures about 2-15/16'' x 7-3/4''. It is in near mint unused condition with a water spot in the lower right corner as pictured. Below here, for reference, is a cast list from this 1941 movie:
