The picture below shows a larger view of all(8) Unused ©1956 The Girl Can’t Help It Comedy Musical Movie Ad Mat Molds in this lot. The ad mats are not dated but they are from 1956 when this movie was made. These are molds in which lead is poured to create a thin metal negative image that is then mounted on wooden blocks for printing. Advertising is no longer being made or printed like this.

The ad mats are like miniature 3-D posters and would look nice framed, or you could still use them to make print blocks. The print blocks would have been used to print on movie pages in newspapers, in magazines, or in the movie theater programs. They are made of a thick compressed paper board. The admats all have images of scenes with Jayne Mansfield and other movie actors. Some of these are still connected. These are marked as follows:

(movie scene admat with Jane Mansfield and another actor)
MAT 2A

(movie scene admat with Jane Mansfield alone)
MAT 2B
