California Pacific International Exhibition   Expo   Worlds Fair   Map   Advertising   Souvenir   Western   Comic   Cartoon   Character   Don Bloodgood   Art   Artist   Art Print   Poster   Americana   Historic   Nostalgic
There are three pictures showing views of this Colorful ©1935 California Pacific International Exhibition Two Sided Map. The Artist was Don Bloodgood. Both sides of this have a lot of detail! On the lower right side of the front it is autographed with a message. I do not know who this person is, perhaps a movie star or actress from the time. It reads as follows:

My Dear,
and best wishes always,
Cordelia Barubisel
1935

There is so much detail on this that I will not be able to describe. The front has a San Diego map with a lot of labeling of places and buildings. There are many ships, boats, airplanes, people, and much more. There are some inset pictures of different buildings. On the sides are some nice colorful images that remind me of artwork from old trading cards. There is a banner at the top that reads "The California Pacific International Exhibition".

The back is even more colorful and detailed. At the top, within a gold oval it reads:

California Pacific
International Exhibition
May 29 to November 11, 1935
Copyrighted By Shell Oil Company 1935

The back is a closer map of the Expo with many, many labeled Exhibits. All over both sides there are hundreds of cartoon / comic looking characters. All around the boarder there are western scenes and western objects. There is a parade coming down the main street and there is activity going on at each exhibit. This took some Artist a very long time to create.

The art print or poster was lithographed in the U.S.A. and measures 32" x 22". It is in excellent condition with some water spotting and light eade wear. It does have folds as made. This would look great matted and framed (either side!)
