The picture shows a view of all (7) Old John A. Volpe Republican Political Campaign Pins in this lot. All of these are believed to be from the 1960s. There are two styles of pins and two styles of pinback buttons in this lot. There are several duplicates as pictured. One pictures Volpe, two have the Republican Elephant, and one is an outline of the state of Massachusetts. To judge the sizes the pin back buttons each measure 1'' wide. These appear to be in near mint and mint condition as pictured. Below here is some Historical background information on John A. Volpe that was found online:

''Volpe, John Anthony (1908-1994) - also known as John A. Volpe of Winchester, Middlesex County, Massachusetts. Born in Wakefield, Middlesex County, Massachusetts, December 8, 1908. Republican. Served in the U.S. Navy during World War II; alternate delegate to Republican National Convention from Massachusetts, 1956, 1960; Governor of Massachusetts, 1961-63, 1965-69; defeated, 1962; resigned 1969; candidate for Republican nomination for President, 1968; U.S. Secretary of Transportation, 1969-73; U.S. Ambassador to Italy, 1973-77. Catholic. Italian ancestry. Died September 11, 1994. Interment at Forest Glade Cemetery, Wakefield, Massachusetts.''
