The picture shows this Old Boxed Party Favor Fortune Telling Set. Shown is the box top, the prizes, and a set of numbered disks (#1 to #24). I have several of these sets and have not seen these numbers before. I believe they were added or stored in this box from another party game by someone using the set.

Also, I have not seen the prizes on ribbons before. These too are believed to have been added for a Halloween party that took place years ago.

Originally these party favor sets were produced to be baked inside a cake, but there are no instructions with this particular set. When the cake was cut you got one of the prizes and looked for your fortune on the box cover.

The fortunes on the cover are hard to read from the scan. They are as follows:

Button ----- Bachelor
Thimble ----- Old Maid
Diamond Ring ----- Engagement
Wedding Ring ----- Marriage
Baby ----- A Large Family
Old Shoe ----- Good Luck
Empty Purse ----- Poverty
Money Bag ----- Riches
Owl ----- Wisdom
Dice ----- Gambler
Cat ----- A False Friend
Peacock ----- Vanity
Boat ----- A Journey
Heart Key ----- Will Meet An Affinity
Aeroplane ----- High Flyer

All of the prizes with the exception of the button, die, and money bag were also used as prizes in Cracker Jack boxes from the 1910's to the 1930's. Most of these are made of lead or pot metal. The airplane is painted gold, but all of the others are plain. Only the Peacock is missing from the set. All that is present is one leg.

All of the lead prizes were produced by the Dowst and/or Tootsietoy Company of Chicago and this set was put out by B.S. & Co. sometime between the 1910's and the 1930's. (I do not know what the initials stand for)

To judge the sizes the box measures 3-3/4" x 5-1/4 x 1". The prizes range from excellent to mint condition, the peacock is missing, the box has some spots as pictured (the rest is clean), and the number disks are all clean.
