The picture shows this Old Large Celluloid Sleepy Joe Club Membership Pin Back Button. This is a real nice looking colorful button. It is not dated but believed to be from the 1930's or 1940's. Sleepy Joe was in blackface, and was an Uncle Remus figure, telling stories about Brer Rabbit et al, in a country setting. The main reason for the show seemed to be the Sleepy Joe Certificate, membership card, and button (for 10 cents). The button pictures a colorful image of an old black man and it is marked as follows:

MEMBER
SLEEPY JOE CLUB

It measures 1-3/4" wide and is in near mint condition. The paper insert in the back is intact.
