The picture below shows a larger view of the ©1948 Abbott and Costello Meet Frankenstein Monster Horror Movie Ad Mat Mold & Film Box in this lot. The ad mat is not dated but it is from 1948 when this movie was made. This is a mold in which lead is poured to create a thin metal negative image that is then mounted on a wooden block for printing. Advertising is no longer being made or printed like this. The box is as found and it only contains a plastic reel. The film IS NOT inside on the reel.

The ad mat is like a miniature 3-D poster and would look nice framed, or you could still use it and make print blocks from it. The print block would have been used to print on movie pages in newspapers, in magazines, or in the movie theater programs. It is made of a thick compressed paper board. The admat has an image of Bud Abbott, Lou Costello, and Frankenstein. It is marked as follows:

THE CREEPERS ARE AFTER BUD & LOU!
BUD ABBOTT & LOU COSTELLO
MEET FRANKENSTEIN
THE WOLFMAN PLAYED BY LON CHANEY
DRACULA PLAYED BY BELA LUGOSI
THE MOSTER PLAYED BY GLENN STRANGE
A REALART PICTURE
MAT NO. 102

The film box pictures Bud Abbott, Lou Costello, and Frankenstein on the cover. The back lists some children's classics, Woody Woodpecker, and Famous (Bud Abbott & Lou Costello) comedies. It also pictures: Woody Woodpecker, Football Players, a Mouse, a Lamb, Big Bad Wolf, 3 Musketeers, Chilly Willy, a Flying Saucer, Creature From The Black Lagoon, Rabbit, Big Ben Clock, Horse, Turtle, Bud Abbott, and Lou Costello.

The ad mat measures about 2-1/2'' x 3-3/4'' and the film box measures 3-3/16'' x 3-3/16'' x 9/16''. The admat appears to be in mint unused condition. The 8mm film box has wear from handling and a tear on the cover with some old scotch tape as pictured. As mentioned above, the film box only has an EMPTY REEL INSIDE.
