The pictures below show larger front and back views of the (2) Elaborate Framed Victorian Baby Cabinet Card Photographs in this lot. These are not dated but they are believed to be from the 1800s. The photo cards that are mounted inside the frames are at least 5'' x 6''. The two children may have been twins.

These framed photographs were acquired from an old estate with many more older photographs of different kinds dating back as far as the Civil War to the early 1900s, including many tintypes, carte de visite (CDV), and cabinet cards. The people are not identified, however, the majority of photographs were of people who were probably related, and had lived in Bangor, Maine and Rochester, New Hampshire.

The frames are made of wood and we believe that they have gold painted plaster moldings on fronts with detailed thistle plants, flowers, and leaves. There are inner frames that had maroon velvet, but most of the velvet had worn off over time, but the cloth still remains. They both have gray panel mat boards with small gold and black drawing designs on them.

These have wooden panel backs and long hanger wires to be hung from wooden moldings instead of plaster walls as they were in Victorian days. The backs of the two frames have matching numbers: “NO. 503”. The frames each measure about 13-1/2'' x 15-1/2''. They appear to be in excellent or better condition as pictured. We are very surprised that these look so well after so many years.
