| | | The picture below shows larger views of this 1939 New York World’s Fair Article About The New York Crystal Palace World’s Fair of 1854. The two sections of the article are still pasted on black scrapbook or photo album paper. As an added bonus, on the other side of the image section is a 1939 Telegram to a woman in Pepperell, Massachusetts. The article “The Birth of The Union” was one of “a series based on the Sesqui - Centennial of the Adoption of the Constitution and the Inauguration of George Washington as First President”. The next day’s picture and article would have been “State House, Springfield, Illinois”. We do not know what newspaper this article came from. The picture is an engraving image of exhibits. The “view of the Interior of the Crystal Palace, New York, 1853 – the First World’s Fair in America”. The article was written as the 1939 New York World’s Fair and the Golden Gate World’s Fair on Treasure Island in San Francisco were opening. It talks about the progress in America of 86 years prior to the First Fair in America in 1854. To judge the sizes the picture section of the article measures about 6-1/2'' x 8-5/8''. It appears to be in excellent condition as pictured. As mentioned above it is still mounted or pasted on old black scrapbook or photo album paper. |
