| | | | The picture below shows larger front and back views of this Old Black African Woman Cloth Character Doll Sewing Pin Cushion with Pins. This woman pin cushion is not dated but it is believed to be from the early 1900s. It looks like a pin cushion, but maybe it was used as a VooDoo doll. It has a spiral of white ball end push pins in the front, and scattered colored ball end pins. The doll has an unusual print shirt, red pants, a thick red or maroon felt hat with feathers. The eyes, nose, and smiling mouth are all stitched in white thread on the black face. We do not know what it is stuffed with. The doll pin cushion measures about 4-1/2'' tall, not counting the black feathers. It appears to be in excellent used condition as pictured. |
