| The picture below shows a larger view of all (4) Small Unused 1950s Walt Disney Animated Movie Ad Mat Molds + Bonus in this lot. The ad mats are not dated but the Donald Duck ones are from 1954 and the Spaceman is from 1955. These are molds in which lead is poured to create a thin metal negative image that is then mounted on a wooden block for printing. Advertising is no longer made or printed like this. The ad mat is like a miniature 3-D poster and would look nice framed, or you could still use it and make print blocks from it. The print block would have been used to print on movie pages in newspapers, in magazines, or in the movie theater programs. It is made of a thick compressed paper board. ADVENTURES OF WALT DISNEY'S OWN SPACEMAN! The bonus in this lot is a small advertisement for Walt Disney's “Bambi” admat mold. The three Donald Duck ad mats are still together. To judge the sizes, the Spaceman ad mat measures about 2'' x 2-5/16''. These are in mint unused condition as pictured. 1954 Storyline
“Donald is visiting the Grand Canyon as Ranger Woodlore narrates its various attractions. Donald tends to be a thorn in the ranger's side, bothering Native sand painters, borrowing a rain dance outfit heralding the inevitable raincloud, and getting into an argument with his own echo in Echo Canyon. Eventually, Donald loses track of his burro and his search for the lost animal disturbs an irate mountain lion who chases Donald and Woodlore around the landmark ultimately reducing the attraction to a pile of rubble.
