The picture below shows a larger view of the (13) ©1953 Abbott and Costello Meet Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde Monster Horror Movie Ad Mat Mold in this lot. The ad mat is not dated but it is from 1953 when this movie was made. This is a mold in which lead is poured to create a thin metal negative image that is then mounted on a wooden block for printing. Advertising is no longer being made or printed like this.

The ad mats are like a miniature 3-D poster and would look nice framed, or you could still use them and make print blocks from them. The print block would have been used to print on movie pages in newspapers, in magazines, or in the movie theater programs. It is made of a thick compressed paper board. The admats have images of Boris Karloff, Dr. Jekyll, Mr. Hyde, Bud Abbott, Lou Costello, Women. They are marked as follows:

BUD ABBOTT & LOU COSTELLO
MEET DR. JEKYLL AND MR. HYDE
CO-STARRING BORIS KARLOFF
