The picture below shows two larger views of this Old Celluloid Key Wind Up Toy Scottie Dog Mechanical and Nodder Figure. Shown are both sides. This key wind mechanical toy dog is not dated but it is believed to be from the 1930s. The dog is not marked and the maker is unknown. The dog breed is also unknown, but it looks like some type of a Scottie Dog, or another Terrier. It has a cream or tan colored hollow celluloid body with a painted jacket or vest, painted facial features, and a painted insect on one ear. There is a metal key to wind on his under side. The mechanism inside makes his tail spin around. Besides his tail moving, the dog’s head is a nodder or bobber as well. It has a counter weight ball bearing in the neck. The head would work much better it it was tightened a little. This mechanical toy dog measures about 5'' x 3-1/4'' x 1-1/2''. It appears to be in excellent condition as pictured.
