| | | The picture shows a view of all (3) Old Historic Tuscarawas County Ohio One Cent Donation Stamps in this lot. These stamps are not dated but they are old. Apparently someone had donated one cent for each stamp received. The stamps picture David Zeisberger, a Native American Indian Chief, and Ohio's first school house, a one room log building. These perforated stamps are imprinted in black ink on a white paper. They are marked as follows: TUSCARAWAS OHIO'S HISTORIC COUNTY DAVID ZEISBERGER FOUNDER OF SCHOENBRUNN NEAR NEW PHILADELPHIA FIRST TOWN IN OHIO May 3, 1772 OHIO'S FIRST SCHOOL HOUSE COMPLETES JULY 29, 1773 THE FIRST CHURCH WAS COMPLETED SEPT. 19, 1772 ONE CENT TOWARDS REBUILDING THIS PIONEER TOWN The stamps each measure 2'' x 1-1/4''. Please see the picture below for the condition. One has a corner crease, one has some paper loss, and one has some extra paper all as pictured. There is some wear on the backs, but all three have the glue still there. |
