The pictures show many views around this Early Lithographed Tin Miniature Penny Toy Picnic Basket. This early penny toy is not dated but it is believed to be from the late 1800s or early 1900s. It is not marked and the maker is unknown. The basket has a moving handle. The two top sections are hinged and open. They close with a spring that is on the top. Both work well. All around the sides and the top there is lithographed art with fruit, vegetables, flowers, leaves and a love letter on two ends in the middle of flowers. There are also gold stars on all of the sides and top sections. he bottom is gold in color and has tabs that hold it together. Counting the handle upright, the basket measures 2-11/16'' x 2-1/4'' x 1-3/4''. It has some light over all wear, but it appears to be in excellent condition as pictured.
