The pictures below show larger front and back views of this Old Molded & Painted Syroco Wood Mother Plaque with Poem. This plaque is not dated but it is believed to be from the 1930s or 1940s. It is made of a compressed or molded wood saw dust type material. There are raised images of a crown, roses, leaves, scrollwork, and a banner It is marked on the front as follows: MOTHER TO ONE WHO BEARS THE SWEETEST NAME, AND ADDS A LUSTER TO THE SAME, LONG LIFE TO HER, FOR THERE'S NO OTHER, WHO TAKES THE PLACE OF MY DEAR MOTHER This would make a great Mother's Day gift item. The plaque measures 10-1/2'' x 8''. It appears to be in excellent condition, however, the hanger section at the top is cracked as pictured. It could probably still be hung as is or could be easily repaired. It would also look well on a plate display holder as well. |
