The picture shows a view of both sides of this Old New York International Airport Advertising Coin. The large dull area in the center of the obverse is not wear. It appears that the gold finish was not applied to this area. The obverse of the coin has a set of wings and reads as follows: THE PORT OF NEW YORK AUTHORITY NEW YORK INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT Construction Started By The City Of New York April 1942 SIZE 4,900 ACRES TERMINAL AREA 100 ACRES 10 MILES OF RUNWAYS COST $160,000,000 The reverse has a raised image of a bird's eye view of the airport and reads as follows: © NEW YORK INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT The coin measures 1-3/8" wide. It is in excellent condition but does have the area of finish missing from when it was made. |
