| | | &The pictures show a front and back view of all (4) Old Whitehead & Hoag Celluloid Pin Back Buttons With Sayings in this lot. These pinback buttons were part of an 1896 collection of pinback buttons that we had acquired. These type pinback buttons were usually used as a premium from cigarettes or gum companies. They appear to be from the same or similar set. It is unknown how many are in the complete set. Each of these pinback buttons have an illustration or image with a saying from the turn of the century or Victorian era. One has an image of a shirt, one has a pair of pants, one has a black baby girl, and one has a silhouette of a bearded man with gears in his head. All four have a Whitehead Hoag Company paper insert in the back. In the order pictured, they are marked on the front and back as follows: KEEP YOUR (Shirt) ON HAVE YOU SEEN THE BABY KEEP YOUR (Pants) ON YOU'VE GOT WHEELSTHE WHITEHEAD & HOAG CO. NEWARK, N.J. PATENTED PAT. JULY 17, 1894 PAT. APRIL 14, 1896 PAT. JULY 21, 1896 The pin back buttons each measure 7/8'' wide.
