The pictures show views of this Old Wham-O Sportsman Hunting Slingshot with Advertising Store Display Box. It is not dated but believed to be from the 1950s. The box states that it was nationally advertised in magazines such as Colliers, Look, Popular Mechanics, Field & Stream, Sports Afield, Outdoor Life, Esquire, Argosy, Outdoorsman, and Legion. The store display box is diecut and the cover or lid folds up to be a shelf sign. The box pictures a man using the slingshot, the slingshot itself, a man with his hunting dog, and other Wham-O products including a hunting cross bow, an Aussie Boomerang, and a ''Scientific Airfoil'' flying saucer (Frisbee). Originally the box once contained (40) steel balls and an extra rubber strap, but these are no longer present. The only thing inside and included is the wooden slingshot with a metal arrow rest. A new rubber strap and leather pouch will be needed for use. The slingshot is marked as follows: WHAM-O SPORTSMAN SAN GABRIEL, CALIF. To judge the sizes the box measures 8'' x 5-1/2'' x 1-1/4''. The box appears to be in good condition with wear as pictured. The wooden slingshot appears to be in excellent condition, but will need a replacement rubber strap with pouch as mentioned above. |
