| | | The picture shows a view of the (2) Old Unused United States Military Insignia Advertising Premium Ink Pen Blotters in this lot. These blotters are not dated but they are both from the mid 1940s during World War II. These were given out as an advertising premium for use with fountain pens, but they also helped the homefront or civilians identify American Servicemen and Servicewomen by their different branch uniforms, rank, rate, and insignia. Represented on the two colorful ink blotters are the following Servicemen and Servicewomen in uniform: U.S. Navy U.S. Army U.S. Coast Guard U.S. Marine Corps Women's Reserve W.A.V.E.S. - Women Accepted for Volunteer Emergency Service W.A.A.C. - Women's Army Auxiliary Corps S.P.A.R.S. - Semper Paratus - Always Ready (U.S. Coast Guard Women's Reserve) U.S. Navy Nurse U.S. Army Nurse The advertising box sections on these blotters read as follows: COLONIAL STATIONERY, INC. SUBSIDIARY TO HOLLMAN'S, INC. OFFICE SUPPLIES AND EQUIPMENT 178 MAIN STREET BROCKTON, MASS. TELEPHONE 171 - 450 These also have the base pay rates of each branch, enlisted and officers. The backs of these are unused blue paper. The blotters each measure 9-3/16'' x 3-7/8''. Both of these appears to be in mint unused condition as pictured. |
