| The pictures show a front and back view of all (4) Old Whitehead & Hoag Celluloid Pin Back Buttons With Sayings in this lot. These pinback buttons were part of an 1896 collection of pinback buttons that we had acquired. These type pinback buttons were usually used as a premium from cigarettes or gum companies. They appear to be from the same or similar set. It is unknown how many are in the complete set. Each of these pinback buttons have an illustration or image with a saying from the turn of the century or Victorian era. One has a silhouette of a bearded man with gears in his head, one has a scruffy man shaving, one has a silhouette of a dog, and one has a silhouette of a man with a flashlight and a hand gun. All four have a Whitehead & Hoag Company paper insert in the back. In the order pictured, they are marked on the front and back as follows:
