| | | | The picture shows the (2) Carved Stone Elephant Book Ends in this lot. This is a nice looking matching pair. I do not know the year they were manufacturered or their origin. The stone appears to be either onyx, soapstone, or some type of marble. There are no markings that I can see. Each has an applied green felt bottom. An example of both sides are shown below. They are each carved from a single block of stone. The elephants are on a carved base with their trunks down and there is a carved book at the rear of each. What looks like a crack on the right one is actually a vein in the stone. They each measure 4" tall and they are heavy for their size. They are in mint as made condition. This is a set. |
