This certificate was most likely given to the wife or family when a U.S. Serviceman had died while on active duty in the Armed forces of the United States. It does not say which branch the man listed served. It would have been from sometime between 1981 and 1989 when Ronald Reagan was President. At the top is a gold embossed United States Great Seal emblem. It is marked as follows: The United States of America
