The picture shows a close view of both sides of this Old New York Joint Stock Exchange Token / Coin. This is an old copper coin. I am not sure but this may have been used as a hard times token. One side pictures a building and reads: MERCHANTS EXCHANGE The other side has the center worn and I can't read it other than "NO. 6" at the top. Around the outside it reads: NEW YORK JOINT STOCK EXCHANGE COMPANY This is an unusal coin. It is not dated but believed to be from the 1800's. It measures 1-1/8" wide. It is in fair condition with wear and a few scratches. |
