The pictures show views of this Old German U.S. Zone Key Wind Toy Sled with Baby Doll. This old toy is not dated but it is from after World War II when Germany was occupied by the United States. The only mark on the toy is the embossed circle on the sled. It reads ''MADE IN GERMANY - U.S. ZONE''. The sled is made of painted tin. (both sides shown) It has a mechanical key wind section with spring and gears and the (removeable) key is included. It also has levers that allow you to make the sled go straight, clockwise circles, and counter clockwise circles. The way that the baby was made to be attached was simply with some thin cardboard under a tin section on top of the sled. The baby is off the sled but can easily be reattached. On the sled part of the cardboard piece can be seen. the rest of the cardboard piece is on the baby's bottom (last picture below). The baby doll is made of some type of painted composition or light plaster material. It is clothed in knitted pants, sweater, neckerchief, and a fuzzy hat. To judge the sizes the sled measures 3-1/4'' long. It works very well and appears to be in mint condition. The baby doll has some light wear, a tiny flake on the forehead, and the separated cardboard piece on the bottom as pictured. |
