The pictures below show larger views of this Boxed ©1917 Friedrich Adolph Richter & Company The Anchor Stoneware Puzzle. The first picture shows the box cover, the stoneware puzzle pieces inside the box, and the instruction booklet. The puzzle was from the F. Ad. Richter & Company of New York, N.Y.. Also included is a paper with drawings of the puzzle parts. This folded paper is actually stationary that is marked:

SAMUEL A. PREBLE,
TAX COLLECTOR AND CONSTABLE
YORK CORNER, MAINE
(it is dated) 190_

There are seven stoneware puzzle pieces. The booklet has instructions and (179) puzzle designs that can be made with these pieces. A few random pages of these designs are shown. The way the pieces are assembled in like the image that is on the back of the box cover.

The box cover, and the booklet cover, picture a man, with a cigar, in a suit with the puzzle. He also has a wine glass and a napkin. There is a boy laughing behind his back. The two read as follows:

THE ANCHOR PUZZLE
179 PUZZLES IN ONE
F. AD. RICHTER & CO., NEW YORK
COPYRIGHT 1917 BY F. AD. RICHTER & CO.

The back of the booklet has an advertisement to mail for a catalog, and another advertisement that pictures a boy creating a building out of stone ware parts. The miniature tower building looks about finished with parts on the floor and a book. The ad reads:

RICHTER’S ANCHOR BLOCKS
TOYS OF STONE
MANUFACTURED BY
F. AD. RICHTER & CO.,
NEW YORK

To judge the sizes the small cardboard box measures about 3'' x 3'' x 1/2''. The puzzle pieces appear to be in mint condition. The box and booklet appear to be in good used condition with wear from handling as pictured. The box lid has two split corners. The cardboard box bottom section has two missing edges. Of the two that are still here, one is still attached, and one is loose but included.
