The picture shows a view of these Unused 1956 Walt Disney Davy Crockett & Man In Space Ad Mat Molds. The ad mats are not dated but they are from the 1956 movie ''Davy Crockett and The River Pirates''. The largest has the advertising for the Davy Crockett movie and for ''Walt Disney's - Man In Space''. Three of the others have river boat scences and one has an image of a rocket launch.

These are molds in which lead is poured to create a thin metal negative image that is then mounted on a wooden block for printing. Advertising is no longer being made or printed like this. The ad mat is like a miniature 3-D poster and would look nice framed, or you could still use it and make print blocks from it. The print block would have been used to print on movie pages in newspapers, in magazines, or in the movie theater programs. It is made of a thick compressed paper board.

This admat has images of Davy Crockett and other men from the movie and a comic character astronaut for the extra film. It is marked as follows:

EXCITING NEW ADVENTURE...
IN THE LIVING LEGENDS OF A TURBULANT RIVER ERA.
