The picture shows a front and back view of this 1800s Gypsy Queen Cigarettes Victorian Woman Advertising Premium Trade Card. The card is not dated but it is believed to be from the 1880s. It was made back when the same company produced some of the very first baseball trading cards. The card is not numbered and we do not know how many cards there are to the complete set. It is larger than most trade cards. On the front is a very colorful image of a pretty Victorian woman and on the back is cigarette advertising from Gypsy Queen Cigarettes, manufactured by Goodwin & Company at their ''Old Judge'' Factory in New York. Because of the large size of the card, we do not believe that it came with a package of cigarettes, but maybe in a case of cigarette packs. The card is marked on the two sides as follows: ''GYPSY QUEEN'' CIGARETTES Giles Lith. Co. N.Y. & Boston GYPSY QUEEN CIGARETTES Are the Brightest, Mildest, Purest and most delicate smoking cigarette ever made in the world. In Quality They Stand Unequaled They are endorsed and recommended as the ACME OF PERFECTION by every cigarette smoker who has tried them. WHEN YOU OPEN THE PACKAGE Notice the delicate color of the tobacco, the superiority of workmanship and the exquisite aroma from the lighted cigarette. TRY THEM ONCE AND YOU WILL USE THEM FOREVER.Manufactured By GOODWIN & CO., ''OLD JUDGE'' FACTORY NEW YORK The trade card measures about 4-1/4'' x 6''. It appears to be in excellent condition with only light wear and some age coloration as pictured. We are not card graders so please judge for yourself by looking at the clear pictures below. |
