The picture shows a view of all (10) Different Silent Film or Early Movie Star Picture Cards in this lot. Awhile ago we were contacted by someone who was doing renovations on their old home. They were in the process of removing the old mantle over their fireplace when a folded and pinned cloth fell out of the space. It was opened and inside (93) old movie or silent film star cards were found. There were no duplicates found in the lot. The majority of them were actresses but there were some actors too. This lot even has some child stars. The cards included here were among that lot. We do not know how these were distributed, who manufactured them, or when they were made. Judging by the actors and actresses on them we believe that they are from the 1910s or 1920s. You will have to be the judge. They are not new nor are they reproductions. There is no makers mark on them and the backs are blank. They may have been handed out at theatres to promote the stars or films, we do not know. Each card has an actor or actress with a facsimile autograph. Some of them have a movie company name as well. The cards are not numbered and we do not know how many are in a set if there actually is one. We are not card graders but most of the cards appear to be in excellent condition. Some have an age discolored or darkened back from being in contact with the cloth they were in for many years. These will be noted with an asterisk (*) in the list below. The following cards (in the order pictured) are included: Marguerite Clark Virginia Lee Corbin (?) (crease) Mary McAlister Bessie Love Jackie Saunders Marie Osborne Mary Picford (crease) Antonio Moreno * Jack Picford Doughlas Fairbanks The cards measure about 2-1/8'' x 3-1/2''. Please see the pictures and list above for the condition. The cards are a bit curled. Some may have some edge and corner wear as pictured. |
