The picture shows two views of this Old Mechanical BIG SHOW Candy Box. The flaps were opened to show all sides. This is a very interesting box. The side panel reads: SAVE ENTIRE SERIES OF BIG SHOW PACKAGES AND FORM A CIRCUS PARADE On one side of this box there is a seated Hippo. His eyes and mouth are punched out because the long flap that fits inside changes his eyes and tougue. The tougue on the flap has not been cut out. The other side of the box has a Circus wagon with a Panther and a Wolf. This small box originally came with candy and a toy like Cracker Jack. The box is a toy as well. There is a patent date of July 4th, 1911. The box has a line on the back you don't see any more: PRIVILEGE TO EXAMINE BEFORE PURCHASING It was put out and Trade Marked by: SCHAPIRA BROS. INC. NEW YORK The box measures 1-3/4" x 2-1/2" x 1/2". It is in very good to excellent condition with a few exceptions. Two small inner flaps have come loose but are included and the flap by the hippo's eyes is separating. |
