The picture shows the (2) Early HIRES ROOT BEER Items in this lot. These were both difficult to scan. There is a very heavy imprinted pottery mug. The imprint appears to be under the finish glaze. It reads "DRINK HIRES IT IS PURE". It is crudely made as all others like this I have seen. There are manufaturing flaws as made and one small hairline age crack at the top above the "D" in drink that does not show up in the picture. The other item in this lot is an old Hires Root Beer Extract bottle. It has a light green tint to it and raised lettering on each side. The spots seen are simply dirt inside. The bottle reads:

HIRES HOUSEHOLD EXTRACT
FOR HOME USE
MANUFACTURED BY
THE CHARLES E. HIRES CO.
PHILADELPHIA, PA.
U.S.A.

They are not dated but both are old and NOT reproductions. To judge the sizes the mug measures 6-1/8" tall.
