| | | The pictures below show larger top and bottom views of this Old Metal Manchester New Hampshire Amoskeag Savings Bank Advertising Coin Savings Register Bank. The Manchester, New Hampshire bank is old, but it is not dated, and we do not know the year that it was made. It has wording in gold ink or paint. You would insert coins, pull the side lever, which would change the dollar amount on the front or top windows. The bank was from The Steel Products Corporation of California from San Francisco, California. It is made of steel. The front or top is painted green, and the back or bottom section is gray or silver. It has not been polished. There is a 1'' coin slot on the side, and the bank will register dimes, nickels, or quarters. There is a key hole on top which we believe resets the register number. The key hold on the bottom opens a hinged door on the bank to retrieve the money inside. This bank does not come with any keys, because the issuing bank would have the keys, to open it when you were ready to bring it in the bank, to make a deposit into your account. There are two banking logos, and the bank is marked on the front, and back as follows: AMOSKEAG SAVINGS BANK SERVICE STRENGTH MANCHESTER, NEW HAMPSHIRE MUTUAL SAVINGS BANKS OF NEW HAMPSHIRE STABILITY $0.00 START – STOP – COINS ADD & BANK PLACE LEVER AT EXTREME RIGHT - INSERT COIN AND PULL LEVER TO EXTREME LEFT. BANK REGISTERS NICKELS, DIMES, AND QUARTERS. STEEL PRODUCTS CORP. OF CALIFORNIA SAN FRANCISCO, CALIFORNIA U.S.A. PAT. PEND. (Patent date was later added to the bank: MARCH 31, 1942 - NO. 2278008) The painted steel metal advertising bank measures about 4-1/8'' x 4-1/8'' x 1-5/8''. It appears to be in excellent or better condition as pictured. |
