| | | The picture below shows a larger view of the (2) 1979 Palmer Alaska Chamber of Commerce Advertising Souvenir Dollar Coins in this lot. These are both dated 1979. These two are identical and each side of the coin is shown. We do not know why these were created. They have images of a cornucopias filled with vegetables, wheat, a plow, with a pick and a shovel, a farmer with a rake, a pioneer with an ax and a rifle, a log cabin, a mountain the big dipper constellation of stars, the North Star, and a lake. The two silver colored metal coins are marked on the two sides as follows: PALMER DOLLAR GREATER PALMER CHAMBER OF COMMERCE MIDSUMMER FESTIVAL EXPIRES SEPT. 15, 1979 1979 CHAMBER OF COMMERCE ALASKA STATE FAIR, INC. SEAL OF THE CITY OF PALMER, ALSKA INCORPORATED APRIL 30, 1951 HOME OF THE MATANUSKA COLONY SETTLED IN 1935 Both of these for one price! The dollar coins each measure about 1-1/4'' wide. They both appear to be in mint unused condition as pictured. |
