The picture below shows a view of both sides of all (4) Old Cracker Jack Pop Corn Confection Pot Metal or Lead Miniature Toy Prize Sailing Ships in this lot. Three of these are matching ships on round bases, and one is a smaller ship on a base with a charm loop, to hang on a bracelet, earring, or on a necklace as a pendant. Two of the larger ships have original green and blue paint. The silver finish one has blue ink on the base. The smaller one has an original silver color finish. Unfortunately, the blue ship came apart, but it can be repaired. The base, and the most forward or jib sail came off. These prizes were manufactured by the Tootsietoy Company of Chicago, Illinois. Some of these type prizes were made specifically for Cracker Jack, while others were made as novelties, bought, and used as prizes by The Cracker Jack Company. Pot metal or lead prizes were some of the earliest prizes that were used in Cracker Jack boxes from the 1910s to the late 1930s. Many of these type prizes or novelties were also sold out of old Johnson Smith & Company catalog as well as some other early novelty catalogs, and fortune telling sets. Many of these can be found factory painted, inked, or with no finish at all. All four of these sailing ships for one price! To judge the sizes, the larger ships each measure about 1-9/16'' x 1-1/2'' x 5/8''. These appear to be in excellent or better condition, with the exception of one. The base and the most forward, or jib sail of the blue ship came off, as mentioned above and as pictured. These can be repaired. |
