The pictures below show larger views of this Boxed Wentworth By The Sea Advertising Souvenir Reverse Painted Vase. The first group of pictures show the reverse painting all around the glass of the historic luxury resort hotel. The second picture shows the glass or vase in its original Navy blue cloth covered gift box. The box is marked on the front as follows:

WENTWORTH BY THE SEA II

To judge the size the gift measures 3-7/8'' x 3-7/8'' x 3-1/8'' and the glass fits snugly inside. It appears to be in mint condition as pictured.

This is a historic hotel resort that was the location of the 1905 peace treaty of the Russian Japanese War. For years the hotel had been threatened by demolition because of disrepair and lack of funding for restoration. The hotel resort was finally purchased, restored and reopened again in 2003. Here are some words from their website:

''Poised high atop a bluff overlooking the ocean and river below, the historic Wentworth by the Sea once again offers its guests a bygone lifestyle of grandeur and elegance.''

''Located on New Castle Island, NH, just an hour north of Boston, the Wentworth opened in 1874 with much fanfare. It instantly became a favorite destination for socialites, film stars, and presidents, including delegates to the historic 1905 peace talks that ended the Russo-Japanese War. The island resort blends the best of the past with the finest of the future.''

''Today's spectacular restoration and new construction brings back the hotel's glamour as it officially becomes "Wentworth by the Sea, A Marriott Hotel and Spa" in 2003.''
