The pictures show a view of both sides of this Old Boxed Louis Marx & Company Horse & Jockey Friction Toy. The horse appears to be unused but unfortunately the jockey was missing from the box when we found it. The toy is not dated but it is believed to be from the 1950s. It was made in The British Crown Colony of Hong Kong. The horse is on three wheels, one between the front feet and two on the back with a friction mechanism between them. There is a metal post on top where the jockey goes that moves up and down as it rides. The horse is made of gray plastic with factory painted features. On the side of the horse is the MARX Toys logo. It works well. Two sides of the colorful box pictures a jumping horse with a jockey. The two sides and the two ends have the MARX Toys logo and the ends both have the Marxie advertising character pictured. There is an original 47c price sticker from a Steinberg Department Store. It is marked on the different sides as follows: HORSE AND JOCKEY BY MARX MARX TOYS ¨ (logo) HORSE AND JOCKEY BY MARX WITH FRICTION DRIVE HORSE AND JOCKEY BY MARX WITH FRICTION DRIVE LOUIS MARX & CO., INC. MADE IN THE BRITISH CROWN COLONY OF HONG KONG MARX TOYS ¨ (logo) To judge the sizes the box measures 5-1/4'' x 3-1/2'' x 1-3/8''. The horse appears to be in mint as made condition as pictured. The box is complete but has light shelf wear, and of course the jockey is missing as mentioned above. |
