The pictures below show larger front and back views of the (2) Different Old Plastic Grocery Store Handy Calculator Adders or Counters in this lot. They are not dated but they are all old They are believed to be from the 1960s. These counters are different but they were all used in the same way. You would push the buttons to add your total as you do your grocery shopping. The top one pictured was made in Japan and the other two were made in Hong Kong. One of these is unopened with its colorful advertising card with easy instructions on the back. It pictures a 1960s young woman shopping in a grocery store. The original price is stamped on it. The “QUICK - ADDER” counter has buttons for cents, dimes, and dollars. Besides the instructions on the back, the packaging reads as follows: PENROSE EASY – ADD KEEPS A RUNNING TOTAL FOR THE SHOPPER ON A BUDGET 59c HANDY ADDING MACHINE FOR OFFICE, SCHOOL, & SHOPPING ADDS UP TO $20.00 NO. 1440 BROOKS – HARTFORD INC. HARTFORD, CONN. 06114, DIST. MADE IN HONG KONG The second smaller adder is marked on the two sides as follows:
