The picture shows views of this Old Portsmouth Lavender Salts Advertising Bottle with Stopper & Tin Cap. The bottle and stopper are made of a nice dark green glass especially in the light. It has an old paper label that mentions the Food & Drug Act of 1906. Most of the label is there. It is marked as follows: THE PORTSMOUTH LAVENDER SALTS (A.P.P.) GUARANTEED UNDER THE FOOD & DRUG ACT, JUNE 30, 1906 SERIAL NO. 48. EASTERN DRUG CO., BOSTON, MASS. CONTAINS 40% ?????? The tin cap or cup is threaded as is the glass. Unscrewed it reveals the glass stopper. The cap is embossed and the bottle has raised lettering. They both read as follows: PRESTON OF NEW HAMPSHIRE The bottle with the cap measures 3-1/4'' tall. It is in excellent condition as pictured. There is a smooth chip at the top by the stopper and appears to be from the manufacturing of the bottle. The stopper is tight. It was not forced open and the inside could use a cleaning. |
