The pictures show views of all (7) Different Unused 1930 Ice & Ice Man Advertising Ad Mat Molds in this lot. The ad mats are dated from different months of 1930. Long ago, before electric refrigerators were in today's kitchens, ice was delivered to homes to be used in ice boxes to keep food cold. These admats are from those days in History. These are molds in which lead is poured to create a thin metal negative image that is then mounted on a wooden block for printing. Advertising is no longer being made or printed like this. The ad mats are like a miniature 3-D posters. They could be painted or would look nice framed, or you could still use them to make print blocks from. The print block would have been used to print in newspapers, in magazines, or on other paper forms of advertising. They are made of a thick compressed paper board. In the order pictured, these admat molds are marked as follows: (#1) (pictures a woman with ice box and blocks of ice) ICE SILENT - SAFE - PLENTIFUL ''THERE IS NO SUBSTITUTE FOR ICE'' 98 - APR - 30 (#2) (pictures an old ice delivery truck) HEALTH RIDES WITH THE ICEMAN THERE IS NO SUBSTITUTE FOR ICE 161 - MAR - 30 (#3) (pictures a block of ice, food items, and bottles) ICE 302 - MAR - 30 (#4) (pictures an iceman with tongs carrying a block of ice) ICE 261 - APR - 30 (#5) (pictures an iceman carrying a block of ice) ICE 260 - APR - 30 (#6) (pictures two women) ICE 234 - AUG - 30 (#7) (pictures an iceman with tongs carrying a block of ice) ICE HEALTH PROTECTION 124 - AUG - 30 These ad mats vary in size.
