The picture shows a view of this Old Unused & Carded Pennsylvania Railroad Advertising Gold Button Neck Tie Bar. This tie bar is not dated but it is old. It has a 1959 patent number (PAT. 2868701) on the back of the clip and there is no zip code on the card. This appears to have been made as a souvenir from an original brass button that is mounted on a tie bar. The button has the Pennsylvania Railroad logo or emblem and the card is marked as follows: THESE ARE GENUINE TRAINMANS UNIFORM BUTTONS. ON MOST ROADS, GOLD WAS WORN BY CONDUCTORS. BRAKEMEN AND OTHER UNIFORMED EMPLOYEES WORE A SILVER FINISH. BUTTONS FROM MANY RAILROADS ARE AVAILABLE. FREE LIST. K. W. PARKINSON 229 N. TRIPHAMMER ROAD ITHACA, NEW YORK To judge the size the backing card measures 3'' x 3''. The button and tie bar appears to be in mint unused condition as pictured. When this was found, it was inside a clear jewelry type plastic box, but the box was all broken. |
