| | | The pictures below show several larger views of this Old Boxed Metal West Hartford Connecticut Pratt Street Bank Advertising Coin Savings Register Bank. The West Hartford Connecticut bank is old. It has a patent date, but we do not know the year that it was actually made. It has wording in gold ink or paint. You would insert coins, pull the side lever, which would change the dollar amount on the front or top windows. The bank was from The Steel Products Corporation of California from San Francisco, California. It is made of steel. The front or top is painted red, and maroon, and the back or bottom section is gray or silver. It has not been polished. There is a 1'' coin slot on the side, and the bank will register dimes, nickels, or quarters. There is a key hole on top which we believe resets the register number. The key hold on the bottom opens a hinged door on the bank to retrieve the money inside. This bank does not come with any keys, because the issuing bank would have the keys, to open it when you were ready to bring it in the bank, to make a deposit into your account. There is a banking logo, and the bank is marked on the front, and back as follows: SOCIETY FOR SAVINGS SERVICE STRENGTH THE “PRATT STREET BANK” 31 PRATT STREET HARTFORD, CONN. INCORPORATED 1819 MUTUAL SAVINGS BANKS OF CONNECTICUT THRIFT WEST HARTFORD BRANCH 994 FARMINGTON AVENUE WEST HARTFORD, CONN. CONNECTICUT’S LARGEST AND OLDEST MUTUAL SAVINGS BANK $0.00 START – STOP – COINS ADD & BANK PLACE LEVER AT EXTREME RIGHT - INSERT COIN AND PULL LEVER TO EXTREME LEFT. BANK REGISTERS NICKELS, DIMES, AND QUARTERS. STEEL PRODUCTS CORP. OF CALIFORNIA SAN FRANCISCO, CALIFORNIA U.S.A. MARCH 31 – 42 NO. 2278008 The painted steel metal advertising bank measures about 4-1/8'' x 4-1/8'' x 1-5/8''. It appears to be in excellent or better condition as pictured. The original box is imprinted in red, maroon, and gray like the bank. It has several images of the bank, and hands operating it. It has directions on how to use this Add-O-Bank ©, and other suggestions. |
