The box features an Art Deco image of a woman with closed eyes and long eye lashes. It is printed in black and green. On one end is the Good Housekeeping Bureau Seal of Approval and it is marked as follows: WINX LIQUID WATERPROOF BROWN NEW FORMULA ABSOLUTELY HARMLESS AND WATERPROOF A DOUBLE LASH TREATMENT WINX BEAUTIFIES LASHES: MAKES THEM APPEAR LONGER, DARKER, HEAVIER. SOFTENS LASHES: AFTER A FEW APPLICATIONS EVEN BRITTLE LASHES REGAIN A CURLY FINENESS. ABSOLUTELY WATERPROOF (DIRECTIONS INSIDE) MADE BY ROSS CO., NEW YORK CITY The paper that was found inside is an advertisement for a ''PERSONAL HOROSCOPE READING - YOUR FORTUNE REVEALED''. All that you had to do was to buy a 10c WINX Eyebrow Pencil and mail in the card that came in the package. The tiny glass bottle has a brass metal top section that is still sealed. It has a rubber stopper with an eyelash brush inside. The bottle has a printed paper label that reads as follows: WINX WATERPROOF SHAKE WELL BEFORE USING APPLY WITH BRUSH ATTACHED TO STOPPER PRINTED IN U.S.A. This product was from the Ross Company or Louise Ross of 243 West 17th Street in New York City. It was advertised in Motion Picture magazine in the 1930s and sold in old five and dime stores. To judge the sizes the small advertising cardboard box measures 2-1/4'' x 7/8'' x 5/8''. It appears to be in mint unused condition as pictured. |
