| | | | The pictures show views all around this Old Embossed Tin Wall Hanging Match Safe with Flowers. This matchsafe is not dated but it is old. It is believed to be from the 1800s or early 1900s. It is not marked and the maker is unknown. It was made with a hole to hang it on a nail or hook, but it has a flat bottom and it could also be used on a table or shelf as well. It would hold wooden matches to be used for lighting a stove, fireplace, cigarettes, cigars, pipes, candles, oil lamps, or any other use for a fire. It is embossed with flowers on the front and sides. It also has embossed match striker and flowers on the hinged lid. It is made of tin metal and it has its original red paint on the inside and the outside. The match safe measures about 3-5/8'' x 3-3/4'' x 2''. It appears to be in good used condition with over all wear from use as pictured. |
