World War I   WWI   War   American   Expeditionary   Military   United States   France   U.S. Army   Occupation   Certificate   History   Historic
The pictures show views of this 1918 World War I American Expeditionary Forces Graphic Historic Document. It appears to list some of the participating battalions, divisions, and battles of some of World War I. It is a list of credits of some of the American Expeditionary Forces. It is loaded with Historic information.

There is a cut opening at the bottom with a mans name appearing in that area that appears to be on some sort of Fraternal paper applied to the back. That mans name is ''PHILIP O. LARRIVEE''. That same name is hand written on the back with more information (see back picture). That area is marked as follows:

MAG PHILIP O. LARRIVEE
REGIMENT 6 F & A ENG
A E TR (?)
FRANCE

There are (8) drawn graphic images on the document with some gold coloring and a long list of Old English lettered text. It can not be read from the pictures, so below is all of the wording typed. (see the long lists below). At the top center is an eagle and a shield with banners. Those banners read as follows:

U.S.A.
AMERICAN EXPEDITIONARY FORCES

In the center is an image of Miss Liberty holding a flag or banner. There are three stars each with the number ''3'' for the Third Division. Her hat is marked ''LIBERTY'' and the striped flag or banner is marked:

THIRD U.S. DIVISION

At the top left there is a Third Division insignia emblem with a shield, saber, rifle, and cannon balls. Below and to the right of it is a long list of credits. These read as follows:

Division Headquarters
Maj. General R. L. Howze

Headquarters Troop - Detachment Troop 'M' - 2nd Cavalry

Next there are (5) small graphics with mountains, hills, towns, cities, and buildings. There is some text under each of these. From left to right they read as follows:

CHATEAU THIERRY
July 14 - 1918.
2nd Battle of the Marne
Maj. General J. T. Dickman.

CHATEAU DE LOUPPY
November 11, 1918 - 11 am.

MONTSEC
September 11, 1918
Battle of St. Mihiel.

CASTLE RHEINFELS by ST. GORR

Army of Occupation
Maj. General R. L. Howze

MONTFAUCON
September 26, 1918
Battle of the Argonne Meuse
Maj. General B. B. Buck

The document measures 12-3/4'' x 10-1/8''. It is in good condition considering its age and where it may have been all these years. It was in a plain wooden frame but the frame and the glass were broken when it was found. It was removed to protect it better. The document has naturally aged and discolored and is looking like parchment paper. There is some edge wear, water spotting, and some dark red spots in the center that hopefully aren't blood spots. It is as pictured and ready to be framed again.
